We are committed to selling more books for our publishers. Portfolio has a history of doubling sales within the first year for several of our publishers.
 
Sales
We visit more shops. In addition to the leading chain and independent booksellers, Portfolio´s sales team visits a variety of other outlets which have a market for our books, such as outdoor shops and gift shops.
 
Portfolio has a field sales team of seven covering the UK and Ireland, managed by a dedicated Field Sales Manager who has a wealth of experience in Special Sales and covers National and non-trade accounts.
 
The backlist is of paramount importance to us. For most of our publishers, the backlist accounts for the large majority of sales and we ensure that backlist is maintained on-shelf by conducting regular stock checks across the entire range. By visiting more shops and focussing on certain subject areas, we are able to maintain strong relationships with specialist buyers.
 
Marketing
Along with a considerable presence at the London Book Fair each year, Portfolio is committed to an number of marketing measures: advertising campaigns promoting itself and its publishers in the trade press and in specialist trade supplements; marketing programmes with Amazon.co.uk; wholesaler trade shows; plus we host regular Publisher meetings with guest speakers from within the industry.
 
Distribution
Portfolio has an alliance with NBN International in Plymouth who provide modern, efficient warehousing offering the full range of distribution services including 24-hour dispatch of books to UK and overseas customers.
 
Reporting
Portfolio is happy to share sales information with our publishers. We have a tailor- made computer system which is accessible remotely by all of the publishers and this is an essential management tool both for them and for Portfolio.
